My family loves this popcorn popper - and we have never had a problem with it. My kids love to watch the popcorn pop!! Great for movie and game nights - and the micky theme makes it more fun for the kids. We have used ours for a year now with not a single problem. It is easy to clean, and very easy to use. I am surprised by the bad reviews...we have not experienced those problems - though I have never tried to use the red lid. (We always put the popcorn in separate bowls so we don't use the lid as a bowl).

As a bonus, try buying country harvest popcorn packs which are made for 4oz machines. It has the oil, butter, and popcorn in one easy to use packet - and the popcorn tastes just like movie theatre popcorn.

I am buying two of these poppers for gifts this year since we like ours so much.

Got it yesterday. Works great! Nice quality. Westbend has one the bowl is thin and cracks easilly. this is heavy duty.

I purchased the Mickey Mouse popcorn popper for my grandchildren and they love it. It is fun for them to watch and the popcorn is perfect every time. There are rarely any unpopped kernels and it never burns. Very little oil is used so it's a tasty and nutritious snack. Using the popper top as a bowl cuts down on dishes too, always a plus in a busy household. And the Mickey Mouse shape makes it ideal.

I am not sure what the other people are meaning but I bought this for my 4 year old daughter and it popped wonderfully. I measured the oil as directed and turned the machine on to stir around and heat the oil up. Once the oil was hot I added the popcorn put the lid on. After the popcorn began popping I added the butter to the dish and it melted perfectly and was ready by the time the popcorn was popped. I flipped the popcorn machine over so that all popcorn could be in lid and used two washclothes to hold the handles so that the steam would not get me and every kernal popped and tasted great. So I encourage people to buy this product it was a great purchase. I really do not know what the other reviewers problem was but it worked with no leaking or anything for me.

6.) Disappointed

When we first bought this popper, and used it, we loved it! So cute and fun! But, as time passed, it became less and less efficient, and popped fewer and fewer kernels each time. It's to the point now that it heats, rotates, but doesn't pop anything. It's rather disappointing. Unfortunately, it's also past the 1-year point for the warranty, too. Yes, the little red lid never did fit properly, but we never served out of the lid. The way the top fits on the base is a little quirky, but not a big deal. Well, live and learn. That's what I get for making an impulse purchase, and not researching first. ;-)

7.) Cute but doesn't last long

I bought this 1 1/2 to 2 years ago as an impulse purchase. It is just too cute. A few months later it quit popping every kernel and now it only popped 20 kernels out of 1/3 cup. So I just went out and bought the Presto Microwave Popper which popped every kernel and fast.

Something I didn't like from the start is that you have to tip it over but there are openings in the lid, so hot steam/water and oil drip out. So you can't really use the lid as a bowl for that reason.

I am surprised the popper quit working this soon.

8.) Poor design - dangerous to use

I was quite disappointed with this popper and found it quite dangerous to use and would be surprised if this product isn't recalled soon.
During the churning of the kernels and during the popping, hot oil dripped down from the front of the unit leaving a mark on my nice Corian countertop. According to the sparse instructions, after the popping stops you are to turn the unit over pouring the popped kernels into the bowl which doubles as the lid. Well not only did kernels empty into the bowl, but hot oil as well. Since the seal between the top and bottom was kind of a lose fit, hot oil also poured out onto my counter and hands as I turned the unit over to empty the kernels. Also, the red rubber measuring cup, which doubles as the bowls snap-on bottom, did not fit. It is suppose to snap onto the bottom of the bowl making a seal but was way too big. All in all this popper is a poor design and can be dangerous to use.

As with the previous review, I have to first of all say that I, too, find the unit a danger to use. When I attempted my first batch, I found that the butter melted down way before the oil got hot enough to start popping the corn. Not a pleasant aroma, butter and oil "burning" together. Oh yeh, and the corn never did pop. Figure that! Instructions were measly. I am so disappointed that a unit of this cost could be so completely ineffective. Slap the disney on it to make a few extra bucks and then you find out it's a piece of garbage.
I first saw this product demonstrated on the QVC shopping network, and that urged me to find it at a local store. Thankfully I did as it made the return ever so much easier.
Pass on this one, folks. It stinks!!


10.) Stuff that works -- NOT

Although the popper does a good job of popping, the red "lid" does not fit properly at all, rendering the bowl useless when turned over. You get HOT butter all over the place. The MFG did respond to calls to their toll free number by claiming that the red lid was the wrong size and by sending another free of charge. But it's pretty clear to me that the problem isn't the red lid, but that the clear dome does not have any lip capable of retaining ANY kind of lid. We did recv a replacemnet lid, but it did not help at all. Fortunately the unit was purchased locally and may be easily returned. BAD DESIGN, DOES NOT WORK.

11.) Didn't Work. Not Worth the Money

I bought one of these because the design was similar to the Stir Crazy popper I had in college, and because of a good sale price. I wish I had left this piece of junk on the shelf.
I followed the directions and measured the oil and popcorn into the popper, plugged it in and turned it on...or tried to. I pushed in the button and nothing happened. The stirrer rods didn't turn and the unit didn't heat up. All I had was a oily mess and wasted popcorn. I packed it back up and returned it to the store.
If you are looking for a GOOD popcorn popper, don't bother with this product. Instead, buy a West Bend Stir Crazy, a quality product that doesn't count on the "Disney" name to sell.

12.) Trust the reviews... I wish I had read them first

I bought this at a local retailer and my review is simple: The product failed to operate right out of the box. Our experience duplicates that of a previous reviewer. We filled it with oil and popcorn and plugged it in. We let our son press the button and turn the unit on since he was excited about it. Nothing happened. I checked a few things but nothing seemed to make a difference. Just a cold plate full of oil and unpopped popcorn.
There are a couple of other things to note about this product. The various parts did not fit together in apparent ways. I would have used instructions to figure out how they fit together but there really aren't any instructions. I think the leaking that people discuss is down to the parts which are just so poorly designed that they do not fit together with an easy motion.

I bought this popcorn popper for my nephew. He really wanted it and couldn't wait to get it. What a disappointment! This takes a very long time to warm up and then when it does warm up it doesn't work so well. It took quite a bit of time to finish making the popcorn and then there were alot of kernels left un-popped! I would suggest that you don't waste your money on this!
