1.) The greatest corn popper and good for 15 years

I've used this popper for over 15 years. Now I'm buying them for friends. Note one small error in the product description--this popper pops 3 quarts of popcorn in UNDER 2 and a half mintues--2.5/not 25 minutes.

The Presto Power Pop works wonders with Orville Redenbacher popcorn. We cut calories by spraying a little Pam on the popped kernels and adding butter flavored salt.

You'll have to experiment a little with timing of your microwave. We listen to it carefully and stop the microwave the second the rate of popping slows below one second per pop. Be sure to use the concentrater in the bottom. And replace it when it gets brown. Enjoy the best and healthiest popcorn with the least trouble you can imagine.

I originally bought the Power Pop because of a rave new product review in Consumer Reports, and CR was absolutely right about the Power Pop. It pops corn in the microwave fast and no oil is necessary, although I like to add a teaspoon to a tablespoon of olive oil for a little extra flavor and crunch.

My first Power Pop lasted 8 years, and I tossed it because the plastic was getting scratched and eventually a hairline fracture developed at the bottom. I've had my second one, purchased from Amazon, for 2 years.

Here are a few benefits:

1. You can make fat-free popcorn. For a Lifetime Weight Watchers member like me, Power Pop makes 9 cups of popcorn, which comes to 3 points.

2. Much lower cost than bagged popcorn (I buy mine in 50-pound sacks at Costco and store it in a metal canister).

3. Easy to clean, dishwasher-safe.

4. You can eat from the Power Pop and don't have to use another bowl (although I think pouring the popped corn into another bowl liberates more flavor).

5. The paper heat concentrators are necessary, but last at least 10 full Power Pops dry, and maybe 5 to 7 with oil. As you can see, though, they're not expensive, versus pre-packaged popcorn.

6. You can try different oils for a taste of flavor.

Power Pop has become very hard to find in brick-and-mortar stores. I've seen them occasionally in Wal-Mart, and that's the only place I can find the concentrators, although Amazon's price before shipping may be cheaper.

When I got a new microwave a couple of years ago, my Power Pop didn't work as well as it had. After some experimentation, I unscrewed the black base, and I use the Power Pop in the microwave without it. It takes almost 3 minutes to pop the full bowl.

Until they make an automatic Chex Mix maker, this is the killer app in home snacks. (Even if they did make a Chex Mix maker, it would still be inferior just for health reasons) Dump a half cup of corn in, 3 minutes later you've got a ton of perfect non-oily popcorn. I believe you can use oil, but why bother? It comes out perfectly without. I use spray-on "butter" and popcorn salt (when I can find it), so it's a very tasty, healthy snack. Once in a while, I go nuts and pour on actual melted butter-- with a lot less guilt since I didn't cook with oil.

Highly, highly recommended-- I actually came to this page just checking to see if they still made it in case our 10-year-old model gets damaged.

I've had my popper about 10 years rightn now, and this thing still works great. Pops most kernals, a bit sensative at first. Once you get to know your microwave with this, works well everytime. I had this in my dorm room and it saved me a bundle not having to buy bags of popcorn. Highly recommended.

This is the coolest popper ever. Just snap bottom to bowl, put on the paper circle, put in your oil and kernels and in 3 minutes I had every single kernel popped perfectly! No countertop space needed, no outlet needed, and much faster than a regular popper.

Once in a while you come across a product that really delivers as advertised, and this is one of those products. Just add popcorn, a little oil or seasoning and the microwave does the rest. Popcorn is dry and crisp, not "gummy" or tough. We've been using our unit now for over a year and every batch comes out just like that last one - perfect. All you need to do is change the power cup once in a while since it degrades after about about 10 uses. If you want movie-grade popcorn at home without the investment in a commercial popper, this is the way to go.

This is the best popper ever. Don't use oil, but after corn is popped use olive oil spray and ground sea salt on your fresh warm popcorn. Eat as much as you want! As stated, you can use the paper concentrators over and over.

We are enjoying our popper. We use oil to make our popcorn and find that the volume of popcorn popped reduces if you use the concentrator too many times - like more than five. You can tell because it will discolor and begin to split apart. Presto PowerPop Microwave Popper

We get good results with both Orville Redenbacher popcorn or the local store brand in a bag. I have taken a bag of popped corn on long road trips and find that one batch fits easily in a one gallon ziploc bag.

This thing works great. It pops the corn well, leaving very few old maids, and the popcorn tastes like that which I remember from my childhood that my mom or my sister and later I, having learned at the feet of those masters, would make on the stovetop. Well, perhaps learned but rarely perfected. I burned a lot of pans over the years. That's why I started using the microwave stuff. It was easy and there were no burnt pots or pans to clean up or sometimes to just throw away...

So you get used to the taste of microwave popcorn and you forget just how great real popcorn used to be. But I had been reading the labels on the stuff and was not happy about the idea that I was consuming all of those processing agents that are used in microwave popcorn. Then I came across this item on Amazon and thought that it might be a good alternative.

Once you have used this to make your popcorn you won't be able to eat regular microwave popcorn ever again. The difference is dramatic. After using this for a week or two, we ran out of corn to pop in it and decided that we should use up the microwave corn that we still had. We had to throw it out because it now tasted like plastic processed crap. I went to the store that night to get some real popping corn. We gave away an entire case of the other stuff and will never use it again.

Just remember to stock up on the "power cups" because it won't work properly without them and don't submerge the black popping stand in water. Remember those two things and it will be a great experience, plus you will no longer be ingesting all of those chemicals and preservatives that are used in regular microwave popcorn.

This item is easy to use and makes wonderfully fresh-tasting, healthy popcorn in minutes.

I use it without oil (instead spritzing on some oil with an oil mister after I put it in the bowl). This way the popcorn popper stays clean and the paper insert lasts for months of regular use.

You will actually taste the popcorn instead of a bunch of fake butter seasoning! Highly recommended.

12.) Perfect popper--here's how to make perfect popcorn with it!

I got this item for Christmas and have taken time to figure out how to make perfect movie-style popcorn. Here's what you do.

First, put in an insert--these will last about 25 uses if you wipe them off right after popping with a warm paper towel. No soap!

Second, add 1/3 cup of popcorn. I got a 20lb bag of Act II popcorn at Sam's for $20. It'll EASILY last a year.

Third, add 1.5 teaspoons of Coconut oil. Amazon sells an organic version that's actually good for you--and there's a lot there. Do the research and you'll see I'm right. Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 15-Ounce Unit (Pack of 2) This makes a HUGE difference in the taste of the popcorn. Plus, this is a very clean oil and it doesn't soak through the insert like many of the other oils I tried. It makes everything better!

Finally, before popping, add about 1/4 teaspoon of Flavacol butter-flavored salt. They sell this at your local restaurant supply store for under $2 for a huge container. It'll easily last a year, and is what the movie theaters use.

Then just pop! I pop for 2.5 minutes on high in my microwave. I don't let it go longer than that even though it's still popping because otherwise some kernels will start burning and destroy the overall flavor.

Yummy! And SO much better for you than the microwave popcorn you'd buy in the store...and cheaper, too!

I love the idea of being able to have a fast treat without the additives of prepackaged microwave popcorn. I also like the idea of not throwing the extra wrappings into the trash. Good price, great item, good for the environment. It's a win-win item!

I have tried several plug in air poppers without much success, so was thrilled to finally discover this outstanding (and reasonably priced) little alternative. It takes a bit of practice to get the timing right, but once you get that down you can say good-bye to that nasty burned smell/taste and wasted kernels. Like one of the other reviewers, I had better luck turning the power down a touch, and add the butter spray and salt after popping to prolong the life of the concentrator over several batches.

I just bought my second power popper. I had the first one for at least twelve years before something melted onto it making it unusable. If not for that, I'd have had it lot longer.
I like it because you can make air popped corn, that is without oil. It's less greasy and less fattening that way. But you can use oil if that's what you want. I like this better than other types of air poppers,also, because it's not as messy.

I have been using this unassuming little popper for a few years now, while barely noticing it. It's one of those kitchen tools that just does what it is supposed to do, time after time after time, which may not be jaw-dropping and spectacular--but sort of IS!

I never pop with oil, because when used for dry-popping, it just requires a quick wipe-out with a paper towel before putting away, and the little cardboard concentrators stay clean and last longer. I melt butter in the MW to pour over the corn after popping. This works perfectly when I use it on my microwave's automatic "popcorn" setting. Pops quickly with few leftover kernels. Using premium popcorn, virtually NO leftover kernels. Pops up crisp and fresh-tasting, every bit as easily as a popping bag of MW popcorn would be, with no unwanted chemical flavors.

I fall for a lot of kitchen gadgets, some get pushed to the back of the cupboard from lack of use. This one delivers, and is always close at hand.

Got this for a college student. Works great, he can buy bulk popcorn and still use the microwave. Much better than the chemicals in prepackaged popcorns and no bag to scorch! Much better on the college students budget as well.
Only dissapointment was the outer box was really smashed when we got it but had not effect on the item, just looked bad. Just a shipping issue. Product is a must for all that are popcorn lovers!

I must admit, I remember the craze of air popped popcorn without all the heaviness of oil and butter. Now, I have it again. This way I add a touch of butter, have great flavor and less calories. A nice treat! And, it does pop well. I have found though that the papers don't last quite as long as the popper instructions suggests, but great product!

Good product. Works fine using the power cup. I bought it because I wanted to use only locally available bulk organic popcorn (better for health, less paper waste)and less expensive overall. I do cut back on my microwave power to 70 percent to prevent burning. Once I learned by trial and error to do that, I enjoy tender,warm, delicious popcorn frequently, and in around three minutes.

i tried to use it at home with my built in new microwave and flames will shoot out of the side of the microwave. so i turned it off and tried the popper at work in the small microwave and it worked ok. my kernels were small and chewy. i bought the gourmet stuff someone gave good reviews for.
i took it home and flames came out again.
i think my microwave detects the metal that is in teh base. anyone else with the same issue?
we eat a ton of popcorn, really wish i could keep it.

I ordered this popper for my daughter early in December and gave it to her for Christmas. Unfortunately, she didn't open the box until over a month had passed, and when she found that the bottom was cracked she attempted to exchange it, but was unable to because of Amazon's one month return policy.
